VBFA has taken the initiative to operate efficiently and effectively using state of the art hardware and software throughout its campus. Recently the information systems department at VBFA, under the direction of Ryan Hodges, has made the move to Apple hardware and software. While it was no menial task, it was well worth the effort and we are reaping the benefits of the excellent software and superb hardware. The administration of the network has been drastically been reduced due to the ease of use of the Snow Leopard Server OS. All PC's were replaced with iMacs (of various sized depending on specific user needs), Macbooks, Macbook Pros, Mac Minis, and Mac Pros. Because we had already began to utilize Macs for IMAG, using ProPresenter, the office associates had already become accustomed to the interface, and those who hadn't quickly adapted.
Not only does IS take care of the technological aspects of VBFA's operations but also the creative duties. We are equipped with the latest in large format digital printing, vinyl cutting hardware and software, as well as various grahic software suites. All signage, artwork, printed materials, and various other multimedia is done in-house. This keeps the cost of goods down and is part of our belief in being good stewards of God's money.
VBFA IS is also responsible for all audio and video installations and maintenance as well. With our new sanctuary came a new challenge. All of our equipment was installed and is operated by volunteer personnel. We take pride in educating those who volunteer and those who want to learn more about the integrated systems. In 2007 we were nominated for the WFX Solomon Award for AV new AV installation boasting 26,000 watts of audio reinforcement and nearly 40 large plasmas and LCD monitors. Our features include:
- Video network of 20 Plasma and 18 LCD monitors
- Sony HDV cameras
- Dual 16 million color outdoor LED displays showing live service feeds to passers-by
- Sonar and Logic audio suites
- Sweetwater Creation Station running Sonar using Roland REAC digital feed
- CorelDraw and Adobe PC workstation for graphics, web, and video production
- Video edit suite featuring Apple Final Cut Studio
- Five IMAG installations using ProPresenter4.
We strive daily to maintain all of our equipment as good stewards. All volunteers of VBFA IS are members of the church and work together to keep VBFA on the cutting edge of technology in all aspects.
Please check out our image gallery for a closer look at the equipment that works behind VBFA.
